What You Love, Determines How You Love

September 07, 2009 By: The Card Sender Category: Personal Development

thinking of you serene sightI was reading these words the other day by Bishop Noel Jones and he wrote, “What you love determine how you love”. The words would not let me think about anything else. They literally took over my thinking process. I began to think of you all, my blogging friends.

I am writing this post today to help me get these words out of my head and onto this blank page. At first I tried getting rid of the words by sending a card to my brothers and sisters this morning. It worked for about 5 minutes and then I was still faced with this blank blog page and those pesty words” what you love, determines how you love”.

If what I love determines how I love then my question to myself is; How have I determined to love my brothers and sisters? My answer, by sharing my life experiences past and present. (blog page is filling up now)

During my time in the military I traveled extensively. My travels did not avail a lot of time to visit my sisters and brothers. The time I had at home was usually spent with my wife and son enjoying whatever country we were in at the time. Now I have a little more time and have placed a new found priority on my siblings. I have determined to give back the time I missed by sharing my experiences.

I love my brothers and sisters very much. I send them cards all the time.

I challenge you to ask youself these questions; What in your life do you love? How have you determine to love it or them? Is it self motivated or selfless love? Is it conditional or is it giving without wanting anything in return? I cannot and will not pretend to know what is right and what is wrong about how or what you love.

I will however leave you with this one thought “be careful not to choose to love what you do not have the power to love”. It only makes for a bad ending and most of the time someone’s heart will need mending because of it.

Thanks for reading I had to get “What you love, determines how you love” out of my head. Fortunately or unfortunately it has now been planted within your head. What you love, determines how you love. Think on it and write about it. You will be a better person for it.

A Greeting Card for Toastmasters Dues Renewals

September 05, 2009 By: The Card Sender Category: Appreciation For Business Building

Requesting dues in any organization during these tight economic times can prove difficult. Requesting dues for a non-profit volunteer organization can be very difficult.

When I was president of our Toastmasters Club in Georgia I would cringed when it was time to collect dues. I truly didn’t have a reason except for the way teh dues were requested. I always thought there had to be a more cordial way to ask for the semi-annual dues. Our old way was to ask the member through our meetings, word of mouth from members and of course email. We woould mail out a dues letter to the hard to contact members that hadn’t responded to the first three ways. There had to be a better way.

Because I send cards all the time, I knew I could combined sending out cards with dues remending. I created a dues postcard and added it to my business system and sent the dues reminder out. It actually cost the club $8.00 to create, stamp and send 22 dues reminders. I was amazed at the cost but I was astonished at the responses I received from our members. Our club had 75% of the members dues paid within 5 days of receiving the maililng and the rest were paid within thirty days. We had 100% members paid by the end of September 2008. HNT Dues Reminder

I didn’t write this to receive any credit. I just wanted to let you know that I just mailed those same dues postcards again. I am expecting a great response this year also.

If you are involved with an organization, business or corporation that requires some form of membership, make a creative postcard asking for the dues. The members will appreciate it, the organization will benefit and you will experience a great “Card Sending Moment”.

Warmest Regards
