Merry Christmas!

December 22, 2009 By: The Card Sender Category: Personal Development

I’ll admit to you and only you that the Christmas season came way to fast. I was not prepared at all. It seemed just yesterday I was cutting the Turkey, and telling my nieces and nephews, they had grown at least 4 inches since last Thanksgiving.

The season came crashing upon me and I found myself having to desperately catch the Christmas Spirit or get swept away in making excuses. Believe it or not this is my favorite time of the year. Yes…Yes…Christmas is my favorite season. I love the stories that are told during this time of the year. From the birth of the baby Jesus, to the story of Kris Kringle, Christmas stories have always fascinated me. I love the decorations that are passionately created by people from all around the World. I secretly admire my neighbor, whose Christmas lights dance around his yard every night. I love the way my brothers and sisters talk to each other during the Christmas season. I love the way your immediate family is always asking the question “What do you want for Christmas?”

All of these things I love about Christmas. However, what I love the most about Christmas is that it is a season of Hope, Joy and Peace. I have found that even if you choose to not believe in God…most people do believe that there is hope, joy and the need for peace on earth.

As you share your Christmas with friends and family, tell them about joy, hope and peace. Share a Christmas story that has been passed down through your family. Hug someone and tell them that “prayer” really does change situations and outcomes. Share the Christmas Spirit.

Don’t be like me and get caught up in the day to day happenings and almost lose sight of what the season is truly about. I’ve slowed down and now I am sharing my Christmas with friends, family and strangers. The card attached to this email was a card I sent to a couple we met in Orlando, who were strangers but now are friends.

I’ll be praying for all my readers, their families, friends and strangers that they may encounter during this Christmas season. If you’re really slowing down, maybe you too will have time to secretly admire your neighbors Christmas lights as they bring joy to the darkness.

Pray for me and my family during this Christmas season.

Warmest Regards,

A Greeting Card To A Herpetologist

While sitting and waiting for my son to finish piano lessons the other day. I made some small talk with a young man who was doing the pesticide treatment on several yards, his name was Paul. I guessed he was the pesticide guy because he was spraying around the houses like he knew what he was doing.

I don’t remember how we got around to what he did, he told me he was attending College and his field of study was Herpetology. Well at first glance I thought he said Herpetology. Guess what, he did say Herpetology. Yes…I thought about the disease at first. Before I could open my mouth to comment (no comment on what I was about to say), he explained. Contrary to the way it sounds and looks, this word does not mean the study of Herpes. It is actually the study of Reptiles and Amphibians which is a branch of Zoology.

I was fascinated by his enthusiasm and his pure joy while explaining what he did. He was so eager to talk and share his goals. I could not help but take away some of his passion. I was the better person for this moment that had been set aside for us.

I repaid his enthusiasm and passion by sending him a card. Send a card to celebrate someone’s passion today. You will be the better person for doing it.

Warmest Regards,
