While sitting and waiting for my son to finish piano lessons the other day. I made some small talk with a young man who was doing the pesticide treatment on several yards, his name was Paul. I guessed he was the pesticide guy because he was spraying around the houses like he knew what he was doing.

I don’t remember how we got around to what he did, he told me he was attending College and his field of study was Herpetology. Well at first glance I thought he said Herpetology. Guess what, he did say Herpetology. Yes…I thought about the disease at first. Before I could open my mouth to comment (no comment on what I was about to say), he explained. Contrary to the way it sounds and looks, this word does not mean the study of Herpes. It is actually the study of Reptiles and Amphibians which is a branch of Zoology.

I was fascinated by his enthusiasm and his pure joy while explaining what he did. He was so eager to talk and share his goals. I could not help but take away some of his passion. I was the better person for this moment that had been set aside for us.

I repaid his enthusiasm and passion by sending him a card. Send a card to celebrate someone’s passion today. You will be the better person for doing it.

Warmest Regards,

Say Something Nice

September 11, 2009 By: The Card Sender Category: Random Acts of Kindness

seeds are for sowingSay something nice. Speak up. I want to hear your voice. Is saying someting nice so hard? Really now…We want our voices heard but we continue to say the wrong things. Today we say thank you and/or please to the cashier who has been up all night, her shift is about to end and she is dead tired. One kind word could change the rest of her life.

Today we are Declaring that we “Say Something Nice”!

Today we say, have a nice day to our Husbands, wives and children as they leave the house. Today we tell the next door neighbor that thier lawn looks nice. Today we say “how are you?” to the co-worker who has worked next to us for four years, but we have never spoken to. Today we wave to the Police Officer and tell him or her, thank you for keeping our community safe. Today we say something nice, to a soldier who has sacrifice thier time, thier family and is willing to give thier life for mine and your freedom’s sake.

The right words at the right time can change a persons life forever. Let’s choose our words wisely. Did you know, that on average, a person speaks 20,000 words each day. Imagine if all of our 20,000 words a day, were positive and spoke life. We could even send a nice card. What a wonderful world it would be.

We should take heed to William Carlton’s qoute below;
“Careful with fire is good advise we know.
Careful with words is ten times doubly so.”
-William Carleton

Today I am suggesting, that you say something nice. Let your words speak loudly, boldly and with strength. Our words take flight and will go where no man has ever gone before. Let’s make sure, that when our words take flight, they are landing in a place, where they produce life and living.

The disciple Matthew told us, that we will be accountable for our words.
“I tell you, on the day of judgment men will render account for every careless word they utter; for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
-Matthew 12:36-37

We are Declaring today, to be the official “Say Something Nice Day”

Say something nice today, somebody’s life needs a caring word.

Send a nice card also.

Warmest Regards
