A Greeting Card Changed his Day

January 31, 2011 By: The Card Sender Category: Random Acts of Kindness

When you wake up on Sunday morning you don’t expect to be caught up in a phone conversation prior to church. At least I don’t. I like to wake up and chat with my wife, eat breakfast and prepare my mind and heart for my sunday school students. Just as I am settling into my normal morning. I had chatted with my wife, had just about completed my breakfast…then the phone rings.

I hesitate answering it, after I see that the number is from a family member in Ohio. I thought to myself “now, they know I go to church on Sunday morning, what in the world could be so important?” Then I thought, someone could be ill or perhaps d…no, don’t want to go there. I pick the phone up, it’s my older brother. He started talking fast and I could not understand, so I asked him to slow down.

What is it? I said. He slows down and shouted thanks for the greeting card. I almost said what card but then I remembered sending him a card full of faith verses to help him as he was going through some life issues. He was so happy. The thought of his happiness touched my heart.

He finally ended the phone call and I had just enough time to get dressed and leave for Sunday School. You can imagine how I felt. Also the conversation provided a good lesson for my Sunday School class. The greeting card sent eight days ago changed my brothers day for the better.

Everyday we have the opportunity to change a life with a smile, a kind word, a friendly handshake, and yes, a heartfelt greeting card.

Appreciate Life With a Greeting Card

July 08, 2009 By: The Card Sender Category: Personal Development

warmest hugsI was thinking about all of the famous and not so famous people passing away the past few days. It is a heavy burden when you lose someone you love and adore. I know and understand this lost personally because when I was 7 years old I lost my father and then when I was 17 years old I lost my mother. Both were the love of my life and the burden of living without them was overwhelming. Well, to be totally honest, I had to get some counseling when my mom died because I could not wrap my mind around losing her. But with God, there is light and life after the death of your loved one. You show appreciation for the lost of life through your doing something good with the life you are given. Life is worth appreciating.

I appreciate life more now because of the experiences of lost and of love. I appreciate life because I demand it of myself, and I embrace life with everything in me. Every moment that you take a breath is one more reason to appreciate life. When you started your day this morning, hopefully you appreciated life by thanking God for your beating heart. If you’re able to work, appreciate that. Better yet, appreciate life because you have a job. Appreciate life by thanking God for all the people you will bless today. Make it worth the trip

Finally, appreciate life because you are living. Try not to get wrapped up in the negative, focus and dwell on the positive. Appreciate in the here and now. Ask yourself the question, how can I appreciate life today? Now go appreciate life, someone needs to feel appreciated.

Warmest regards,
